Best known for her confident "Cheeky" blond curls, passion and sincerity.
23 year old, Katrina Burgoyne is one of Australia’s newest and most promising singer/songwriters with every song boldly painting an organic musical landscape of enchanting melodies, heartfelt vulnerable vocals, strung together with lyrics only to be described as candid and honest.
In 2009 Burgoyne was awarded an APRA (Australian Performing Rights Association) Professional Development Award. The $12,000 grant sent her to music city Nashville, TN USA. Where Katrina spent a month writing for her much anticipated debut album titled "White Flag.”
July 2010 saw the release of Burgoyne’s spine tingling debut single “Ghost” co-written by “Hillbilly Daddy” Bill Chambers. After posting a "sneak peak" of Katrina's “movie like”, thriller film clip on YouTube it shot straight to #36 most viewed musician videos in Australia.
Ghost peeked at #16 on the Top 30 Country Tracks Chart, received airplay on ABC’s RAGE, was awarded 2010 ASA Country song of the year, Australian Country Music’s Peoples Choice Award for Video Clip of 2010, ISC honorable mention, collected over 23,000 views on YouTube and wrapped up 2010 as Katrina's first top 10 charting single, peeking at #10 on Austar/Foxtell’s Country Music Channel’s Top 30 Countdown.
Releasing her second single “I Wasn’t Gonna Cry” in February 2011. The single was placed as runner up at the 2009 ASA awards, hit the top 30 on radio charts across Australia and has reached over 15,000 views on YouTube. The creative split screen music video shot straight up the CMC top 30 Countdown sitting at #5 just six short weeks after release.
March 10, 2011 Burgoyne celebrated the independent release of her debut album “White Flag.” Not to be mistaken as a sign of surrender Katrina considers the true meaning of “White Flag” is: “Believing in ones self so much that against all odds others will believe in you too.”
Distributed by WJO the honest “open book” album debuted at #9 on the Australian Country Music ARIA Chart, #4 Bigpond Country Music Chart, #21 Bigpond Album Chart (All Genre) and #11 Leading Edge Music Chart.
Katrina’s personal “everyday, ordinary girl” approach filters from her hand written text in her album artwork to her self managed website and social networks. Her on stage presence is outstanding as she shares her secrets and makes fun, new memories with supporters as if they are her closest friends.
"Musically, Burgoyne avoids the pitfalls of peer country-pop pressure and delivers a more organic capsule where the vocals - not guitars and drums - reign in a sea of acoustic bliss". Beat Magazine, Melbourne.
